South Asian Author Challenge

Our beautiful host, S. Krishna says,

This challenge is to encourage people to read books by South Asian Authors – South Asia being India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Please note that it does not include the Middle East! The books can be from any time period, contemporary or classic.
There are two requirements for a book to qualify for the South Asian Author Challenge, both of which must be met:
1) The author must be of South Asian descent.  It doesn’t matter if they’re third or fourth generation, or are only half South Asian – I’m pretty flexible on this issue.
2) The book must be about South Asia in some way.  It doesn’t have to be set in South Asia, as long as it’s about the culture or history in some way.  On the other hand, it can be set in South Asia and not be about South Asians.
So I am joining this challenge as well. I am going to read 3 books -
  1. The White Tiger
  2. The Reluctant Fundamentalist
  3. The Enchantress of Florence
I think Family Matters by Rohiton Mistry is another book I "could" read!

Thank you S. Krishna for hosting this. Join this challenge!

The White Tiger is a brilliant book. Brilliant because it is harsh, angry and evocative. Hope you enjoy reading it =)

Thank you for posting about this challenge.

May I suggest a Pakistani author, Shaila Abdullah? I read and reviewed her novel, Saffron Dreams, and her collection of short stories, Beyond the Cayenne Wall. I was also lucky to be able to interview her on my blog. :)

I want to read The White Tiger, too! I thought I had it, but it turns out I don't (unless it's hiding from me).
